Aeroplane “We Can’t Fly”

Gosh, back in, like, ages ago, Aeroplane crashed onto the nu-disco/house scene like a breath of fresh air. Pitched down French house grooves and balearic beats. They parted ways as a duo with Stephen Fasano (now The Magician turning our superb monthly Magic Tapes) leaving Vito De Luca to it.

The Aeroplane debut album “We Can’t Fly” came way back in September 2010. I should have loved it but didn’t. The title track was the one that kind of grabbed me initially but I always felt it under-used the gospel choir and should have been a extended disco monster. Fast forward two years and it’s still getting the remix treatment. This one I like.  It’s from Oliver out of LA and its 4 mins 17 sec of gospel, synth-funk. Apparently done ages ago but just released. Buy. It’s from the rather good Eskimonde – A Decade of Eskimo Recordings.

If you need reminding of what an amazing remix sounds like and the on point talent of Aeroplane as a duo – look no further than Grace Jones “Williams Blood” (Aeroplane remix). Superb.

Edit: Check out the Magician’s latest magic tape just out on 12 November featuring some killer tunes.
